Doors to Discovery is an early childhood, hands on, play based literacy curriculum that uses thematic units and literacy activities to build a foundation of oral language, phonological awareness, alphabet knowledge and concepts of print nd a love of books. It also includes science experiences which build curiosity, critical thinking, and discovery. Math is introduced through manipulatives and art material - helping establish an understanding of basic skills. Children gain an understanding of color and shape recognition, counting sorting, classifying, spatial relationships, measuring and graphing using physical object and classroom experiences.
Preschool - 4's
Our four year old teachers use a researched-based, thematic curriculum. They follow a scope and sequence throughout the year. The focus is on letter recognition, letter sounds, and numbers. The curriculum links language and early literacy, math, science, social studies, creative art, health safety, personal and physical development, and technology. The curriculum develops children's minds and bodies through carefully selected and sequenced learning experiences preparing them for future academic success. Moreover, the curriculum is enriched y daily enrichment classes, circle time routines, field trips, and each teacher's individual approach in presenting the material to the children in inviting ways.
