The CHUMS Kindergarten program meets all requirements outlined by the Texas Education Agency. Combining these required studies along with developmentally appropriate experiences, your child receives a unique Kindergarten experience. CHUMS maintains a low teacher/student ratio in order to nurture the self-esteem of each child.
Our reading curriculum, Fountas and Pinnell Classroom Reading Program, is a comprehensive reading program that teaches children to read and write at the same time. Your child will participate in hands-on science activities using topics taken from earth, life and physical science.
We use the Silver Burdette Ginn Mathematics Program which combines art, music, rhythm and literature into a program of math exploration, practice and application.
Your child will also participate in Spanish, music, computer and motor skills classes, each presented by a specialized teacher. Children will visit our outdoor classroom, where they grow and harvest their own vegetables throughout the year. They will also visit our library, "Frankie's Library", once a week.
